Albuquerque Fire Department Retirees Association
The Albuquerque Fire Department Retirees Association was formed on June 9, 2000. General meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month and all retirees are encouraged to attend. The association also has an annual summer picnic and Christmas party for retirees and families. For more information contact any association officer.

Albuquerque Fire Academy Auditorium named in honor of retired Assistant Chief Sam Trujillo

ALBUQUERQUE – Today a living legend was honored, as retired AFD firefighter Sam Trujillo had his career and legacy celebrated with a naming ceremony at the Albuquerque Fire Academy.



Over the course of his career, Trujillo played an important role in many of the most transformation aspects of the department. This includes his innovative work in program development, training, and policy creation.
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Mayor Tim Keller, Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo, and retired AFD Firefighter Sam Trujillo gathered to celebrate the naming of the “Sam Trujillo Training Auditorium.”

The City of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Fire Rescue have honored our Brother, Herman Bishop, AFDRA Historian, by naming the AFR Fire Marshal’s office the Herman Bishop Fire Marshal’s Office.

The official plaque unveiling was November 4th, 2024, 10 am, at the Fire Marshal’s office located at AFR Station 1 at Silver and 8th st. Thank you for helping us honor Herman for his dedication to AFD/AFR, six years as the Fire Marshal, and 24 years as AFDRA’s Historian.
